THOMAS KEMPER'S ROOT BEER & VANILLA CREAM SODA

Yesterday, on the way home from a math class, we stopped by Tommy's, a local Italian place for lunch. We eat there all of the time but it's normally for dinner. Today, we were there to try out his latest addition to the menu, an Italian Beef Sandwich.

I've only had an Italian Beef Sandwich a couple of times so I'm not a great judge of them but I do know a good soda when I see it and both the root beer and vanilla cream soda were fairly good. They both say they use cane sugar, not High Fructose Corn Syrup and both claim to be caffeine free, according to their labels.

The root beer was a tiny bit sweet but not overwhelmingly so and the Vanilla Cream soda was very well balanced but both were not quite cold enough to be at their best so we'll pick up a couple more soon, bring them home, ice them down for a couple of days and repeat the experiment, just to be sure...

UPDATE (9 May 2009): We bought a couple of these sodas home, iced them down in the refrigerator for several days (we like our drinks just above freezing) and tried them again. This is the way they should be served and we noticed a marked inprovement at this temperature, especially for the creme soda.
